Attraction of Bees to Native and Introduced Willows (Salix spp.)

چکیده
Introduced willows have mostly been employed as a renewable feedstock for bioenergy in the northeastern USA. The question of whether introduced provide same biodiversity value and attractiveness native has not yet explored. objective this study was to compare different subfamilies bees. common garden experiment planted at Storrs, CT, USA, included three (S. eriocephala, S. sericea, lucida) ‘SX64’, ‘Onondaga’, ‘S365’) willows. Various willow taxa flowered times through spring, allowing pollinators be collected over 6-week period using colored bowl traps. As result, 2430 bees were identified subfamily level. Andreninae most prevalent pollinator visiting all willows, followed by Hylaeinae Colletinae. There no significant differences number from either or during progressive flowering mid-March–May 2021 2022, suggesting their equal pollinators. Similarly, concurrent two taxa, there associated with group that when had foraging choices, they similarly attracted both overall finding suggested plantings meet goals offer similar benefits floral resources

Interactions between Native and Introduced Bees in New Zealand
There are about 40 species of native bees in New Zealand, all belonging to the two most primitive bee families. Seven species have been introduced and established, five of which belong to the most advanced family of bees. All bees exploit similar resources such as nest sites, pollen, and nectar, so the question arises as to whether native and introduced bees are competing for these resources. S...
متن کاملFood Conditioning Affects Expression of Insect Resistance in Diploid Willows (Salix spp.)
The high energy quota and versatility of use make willows (Salix spp.) attractive as bioenergy crops. Insect defoliation constitutes a threat to the profitability of willow growers. Hitherto, the breeding for resistance against the main insect pests has been hampered by the fact that all known resistant willow clones are polyploids, and existing molecular breeding tools work most effectively fo...
متن کاملPhylogenetic Relationships of American Willows (Salix L., Salicaceae)
Salix L. is the largest genus in the family Salicaceae (450 species). Several classifications have been published, but taxonomic subdivision has been under continuous revision. Our goal is to establish the phylogenetic structure of the genus using molecular data on all American willows, using three DNA markers. This complete phylogeny of American willows allows us to propose a biogeographic fra...
